Investigating another issue, lead me to this damaged and leaking shower trap.
Shower trap replaced with the most practical solution, in this case, McAlpine products.
This side entry valve was filling very slowly, limescale deposits. However on disassembly tte plastic was brittle and it needed replacement.
A new valve and a very fast fill.
